I saw this in the AHDI newsletter and thought it was cute…Happy Holidays everyone!
’Twas the night before Christmas
And in MT town
Tired MTs were longing
To lay their keys down.
Their earphones were hung
On their skull caps with care
In hopes that new words
Wouldn’t bring them despair.
Some in their sweatpants
And some in their tights
Had just settled down
For a long evening’s type.
When over their headsets
The sounds were so jumbled
They couldn’t quite make out
The words that were mumbled.
They hit the fast forward
Reverse, stop and slow
Trying to make out
The message below.
They checked in their Dorland’s,
Drug books and spellers,
Some called class buddies
Or even asked their fellers.
If they had an inkling
Of what the tape said
Or why someone was trying
To mess with their head.
When no one could answer
They listened less quick
And suddenly knew
The “doc” was St. Nick.
Now he spoke very plainly
Since they needed to hear
For his message was urgent
As Christmas drew near.
It was quite simple
No long words to spell
Dictated but heartfelt
And clear as a bell.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays
Best wishes and cheer
And thanks from Doc Santa
For your hard work all year.

I haven’t been updating my blog as much as I would like but life has been very busy. We are moving next week so we have been packing as much as possible before the big move. I’m also trying to work as much as I can since I won’t be able to much next week during the move.
I really like working for Superior Global Solutions. There is sooooooo much work but I’m learning a lot. I’m doing about 50/50 of VR editing and straight transcription, which is great for me because I like them both. I’m averaging just below 150 lph for ST and just under 300 on editing, which is right where I should be. Sometimes I’m lower if it’s a new type of report since it takes time to get used to a new type of report. Once you get the hang of it, then I can pick up the pace.
Otherwise, I’m really just trying to concentrate on being more productive. I use the Shorthand program for my word expander and I just purchased the ABCZ work list from Jon Knowles (if you’re a CS student or grad you can receive a 15% discount!). I wasn’t going to purchase a word list but after doing some research saw that the system looks like a good one. I haven’t used it yet because of being so busy with packing but once I’m set up in my new office I will start using it and let you know how I like it.
I hope everyone is having a good December so far! We are getting a ton of snow here in Minnesota. For the last few years we haven’t had much snow in December so it’s nice to see it here again even though it will make moving a little more challenging. But the last time we moved it was in the summer and it was over 100 degrees so I think I actually prefer moving in the winter.
